Episode 18: Driven Meditation

You may have preconceived notions about what meditation is and the benefits it provides to those who practice. We hear time and again "Meditation just isn't for me. I can't sit still." or "I can't slow my mind down and I can't get the breathing right." The goal of meditation is simple: catch yourself being anywhere but present, and come back. In a single meditation you will do this over and over and over again, just like you would when training a puppy to sit. The practice isn't meant to slow down the thought trains in your mind, it's just an effort to practice noticing when you're on one, and gently getting off and going back to the present.
